Olympic hopeful Georgie Spence launched Wilton Horse Trials, with her mount "Song of Gull" (known as "Gully"), at Wilton House on Tuesday 8th April (see attached picture and caption at the foot of this press release).

Georgie, who is the Wiltshire-based European Silver Medallist and International Three Day Eventer, visited Wilton House to mark the announcement that Salisbury Solicitors Whitehead Vizard will be sponsoring the 2008 Wilton Horse Trials in July.

Based in Foxham, near Chippenham, Georgie was a member of the silver medal-winning British Team for the European Junior Championships at Necarne in Ireland. She is tipped as a future Olympian in a sport where Britain is a dominant nation.

She was recently selected onto the World Class Start Programme, a two year lottery funded scheme which offers financial funding and training days and sessions. It is aimed at young riders who could be potential Olympic candidates in 2008 or 2012.

Georgie Spence said: "I am very pleased to be associated with Wilton Horse Trials. It is a fabulous venue. The event is a great day out for all of the family. I'm looking forward to being here in July and welcome the involvement of Whitehead Vizard as main sponsors. It is good to see a Salisbury company putting something back into the community and supporting a growing sport like eventing."

The event will run at Wilton House from Saturday to Sunday, 26th – 27th July 2008.
