The second day of the Whitehead Vizard Solicitors Wilton Horse Trials opened with bright sunshine on Sunday morning. Temperatures reached 28 degrees as horses and riders battled heat and dehydration on the second day of the contest. Competition was as fierce as the heat.
Major Section winners at the horse trials today included:
Darrell Scaife, riding Wiseguy IV, from Calne, who won the Intermediate Section G on Sunday morning;
Sam Griffiths, riding Showtime Mr Pete, from Stockbridge, who won the Intermediate Section H on Sunday morning;
Andrew Nicholson, riding Quimbo, from Marlborough, who won the Intermediate Section J on Sunday afternoon;
Emily Llewellyn, riding Pardon Me II, from Tundridge Wells, who won the Intermediate Section K on Sunday afternoon;
Caroline Powell, riding Got The Look, from Kelso, who won the Intermediate Section L on Sunday afternoon;
Daniel Leech, riding Caetano, from Clarendon Park, who won the Novice Section M on Sunday afternoon;
Jade Lazenby, riding Latina, from Holsworthy, in Devon, who won the Novice Section N on Sunday afternoon;
Anthony Ffooks, Event Organiser, said: "All riders did well to complete the trials in what proved to be the hottest day of the Summer so far.
It made a nice contrast with last year, when the event was rained off. The Whitehead Vizard Solicitors Wilton Horse Trials combined the three disciplines of Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country. Great Britain is one of the World's leading eventing nations. We are now keeping our fingers crossed for the GB Eventing Team as they set off for the Olympics."
