Salisbury High Street Solicitors Whitehead Vizard have raised £1,590 for charity by taking part in the 2008 Will Aid scheme. The sum has been raised through the joint work of solicitors Pat Lush and Claire Richards.

Pat says: “We are very pleased with the result which is some £400 more than last year.”

Claire Richards added: “Will Aid 2008 has been very successful. We have assisted people to make their Wills and make sure their wishes are carried out, as well as raising money for a deserving charity.”

The figure is correct to 16th March 2009, but more money is still to come in. The final figure is expected to be in the region of £1,800.

Will Aid is a partnership between local solicitors and 9 UK charities. The overall 2008 campaign has so far received more than £860,000 in donations and Gift Aid, which will be shared equally between ActionAid, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, Help the Aged, NSPCC, Save the Children UK, Sight Savers International, SCIAF and Trocaire.

Money was raised throughout November, which was designated Will Aid Month. Participating solicitors drew up a basic Will free of charge, and recipients made a donation to Will Aid in return.

Pat Lush said: "A Will written by a solicitor gives certainty and peace of mind that the deceased's wishes will be carried out after his or her death.”
